Setelah proses penantian yang rasanya tidak berkesudahan, akhirnya intel meluncurkan prosessor barunya di penghujung tahun 2018. Walaupun masih mengusung arsitektur lawas Coffee Lake, namun bukan berarti prosessor intel generasi ke-9 bisa dipandang sebelah mata. Penggunaan arsitektur lama sendiri memberikan beberapa keuntungan, salah satunya adalah dukungan terhadap socket 1151 yang telah digunakan di generasi sebelumnya.

Salah satu produk yang patut digaris bawahi dalam lini prosessor Intel generasi ke-9 adalah Intel Core i9-9900K. Keistimewaan prosessor ini dikarenakan sebelumnya, prosessor dengan seri i9 hanya diluncurkan di segmen High-End Desktop (HEDT). Dengan konfigurasi 8 core, 16 thread, intel Core i9-9900K menjadi prosesor seri tertinggi intel di kelas mainstream saat ini. Selain mendukung chipset generasi sebelumnya, bagi enthusiast yang mencari performa maksimal, intel meluncurkan motherboard baru dengan chipset Z390.
