Akhirnya di penghujung tahun 2018 ini, Intel meluncurkan prosesor generasi ke-9 buatan mereka yang masih mengusung arsiterktur yang sama yaitu Coffee Lake dan juga mendukung socket 1151. Namun perbedaan yang sangat terlihat jika dibandingkan dengan generasi sebelumnya yaitu hadirnya prosesor Intel Core i9-9900K yang memiliki konfigurasi 8 core 16 thread dan seri Core i9-9900K ini menjadi prosesor seri tertinggi di generasi ke-9. Penambahan dua core ini memposisikan prosesor Intel Core i9-9900K menjadi prosesor 8 core pertama Intel yang masuk di pasar mainstream. Selain itu, prosesor Intel Core i9-9900K ini mendukung penggunaan motherboard dengan chipset Z390 terbaru bahkan juga dapat digunakan pada motherboard dengan chipset Z370.
